Govt. of Karnataka, Health Dept. &eGov Foundation Launch 10Bed ICUs in 41 Taluka Hospitals and TeleICU hub in Mysore

The 10BedICU Program is an innovative PPP (private public partnership) project between the Dept of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka, eGovernments Foundation and Karuna Trust. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Basavaraj Bommai along with Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Dr. K Sudhakar, launched 41 10BedICU wards covering every district. A TeleICU hub at Mysore Medical College was also launched to provide specialist help online to remote taluka 10BedICUs.

The 10BedICU Project conceived as a response to the second wave of COVID aims at making critical healthcare accessible across every district, including the most remote regions of the country. The project consists of 5 components:

  1. Providing and installing state-of-the-art ICU medical equipment at taluka level govt. hospitals.
  2. Deploying award-winning CARE software for delivering improved healthcare outcomes.
  3. Deployment of the TeleICU system in a hub-n-spoke model, with TeleICU Hubs in government medical colleges connecting specialists to remote 10BedICU hospitals.
  4. Basic and advanced critical care training and standardizing ICU protocols.
  5. Community participation to maximize the impact and sustainability of the project.

The 41 10BedICUs in Karnataka were funded by CryptoRelief, GiveIndia, HDFC Bank Parivartan and the 10BedICU and TeleICU Hub in Mysore K R Hospital were funded by Srikanth Nadhamuni. Several NGO and industry partners have come together to implement this project including eGovernments Foundation, Karuna Trust, Hamilton Medical, Google Cloud.

10BedICU has already deployed ICU units in 200 hospitals in 8 states including Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur,  Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim and Meghalaya.
