Samsung’s Gen Z education and innovation competition, Solve for Tomorrow, witnessed record-breaking participation by young students from across India and a team from Telangana – Alpha Monitor – has made it to the Top 10 teams in the inaugural edition of the competition.

Himesh Chadalavada from team Alpha Monitor have developed a Smart Wristband to help Alzheimer patients around the world. The device monitors the patients’ health status, such as wandering, pulse, and blood pressure. His innovation, Alpha Monitor, can help these patients keep constant track of their health.

At the end of the Top 10 round, three national winners stand a chance to get mega support of up to INR 1 crore and mentoring support for six months to take their ideas to the next level under the expert guidance of IIT Delhi.

The program that encourages youngsters to submit their ideas under 4 themes – Education, Environment, Healthcare, and Agriculture, got over 18,000 registrations from youth across different regions of India.

Himesh’s grandmother was an Alzheimer’s patient, which motivated him to develop for underserved Alzheimer patients. The device monitors the patient’s health parameters such as pulse and blood pressure. A caregiver and doctor are automatically alerted if the patient gets out of bed and starts wandering. The prototype will also utilize an application to support the Smartwatch to keep constant track of the patient’s body. During the same time, real-time data is shared constantly to get the best results in optimal time.
